Breaking the cycle of poverty
CHIT breaks the cycle of poverty which is the lot of rural families
in South India when the breadwinner is lost. Children suffering malnutrition
and missing school are taken into loving care, close to any relatives, nurtured,
and educated at our own Christian-run High School. With good food and encouragement,
80% go on to Sixth Form College and a range of courses. Thirty-two girls are
in nursing training. We have 260 children, and could take 40 more. £1000 sees
a child through 7 years in the home. Another £1000 buys 5 years further education.
